The weekend after the kids went back after Christmas break, we went to Puerto Rico with Greg and Steph. Ben had gone before with Greg and some other guys for a bachelor party several years ago around this time. This time it was the four of us. When Greg mentioned the trip at the end of September, it seemed like forever away. But it came at the perfect time and we were ready to skip town (again!) and hit the beach.
We had the best time. The weather was perfection (85 and sunny). The food delicious (every single night). The entertainment on the beach was priceless (imagine 3 women with thick Long Island accents, mean as snakes and loud as could be set up right behind us). The water a bit rough (but we swam anyway and even got taken out by the waves a few times). The company was the finest (long time friends with uninterrupted conversations are the best). It truly was a wonderful weekend.

The view from our 14th story room.
The view from the pool to the beach.
I love palm trees. I'm trying to figure out how to get one to West Virginia.
The boys talking with their feet in the water.
Our spot on the beach. That's Greg down there.
Old San Juan has two forts that were so fun to explore and see one evening. They are old, beautiful and intriguing. Makes me wish I had cared more about history when I was required to learn such things.
Ben liked to caption this picture "balls."
We stumbled upon a coffee shop and roastery that met Ben's coffee tastes.
Old San Juan is charming and beautiful.
We ate the BEST food. This little gem here was called "chocolate cake." And do you know what it tasted like? Liquid chocolate cake. It was gooooood.
When the guys went for the bachelor party, there was some sort of crazy festival where the streets were filled with people. Ben was showing everyone that this is what the streets really look like because you couldn't see them when they were there.
The boys got to watch the playoff football on the way home.
And the girls got matching shirts - and wore them home!
A great four days in the sun with wonderful friends is priceless in my book. Thanks, Greg & Steph!
